Short Term Forecast That Could Impact the WX Challenge


This is the 500 mb Vorticity Advection map.  The focus in the northwest where WX challenge participants are forecasting this week.  Positive vorticity advection is over northern Idaho and western Montana.  Negative vorticity advection is over eastern Oregon and southwest Idaho.
This is as of 1800 Z on Tuesday.


Negative 850 mb QG Temp Forcing is over southern Idaho, western Wyoming, and southwestern Montana.  Positive 850 mb QG Temp Forcing is eastern Washington, northern Idaho, and northwestern Montana. 



Lastly, highest values of 700 mb omega are measured over northeast Idaho and western Montana.  Therefore, a low pressure system will bring showers over the areas with the highest omega tomorrow at 18 Z.
