Short Range

Analysis valid 2:00pm EST 7 Jan 2014

The high pressure situated over Illinois will continue to pass over Indiana today and will move into Ohio by Saturday afternoon. A wave of PVA will move across the area at the 500 mb level Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm with WAA advection associated with it. There is some disagreement in the models about snowfall Saturday. The GFS shows the snow staying just to the north of West Lafayette with the northern third of Indiana getting snow at 8:00 pm. The NAM shows a light snow for West Lafayette starting at 1:00 - 4:00 pm before the larger system moves in at 10:00 pm time and lasting into Sunday morning.

The warmer temperatures will stay around through Sunday. Both the GFS and NAM show light snow for West Lafayette for Sunday late morning/early afternoon with most of southern Indiana getting snow. Monday is will be dry with no expected precipitation. Temperatures will drop back down with a slight CAA.
