QG Traditional map analysis

The GFS211 run on 11 Feb 2007 at 12 UTC f36 indicates areas of rising and sinking motion based on the traditional form of the Q-G omega equation.  The rising motion is indicated by the red area, as positive forcing is seen by both terms in the equation (-Laplacian of the geostrophic temperature advection and the geostrophic absolute vorticity advection by the geostrophic wind.  The opposite is the case for the region of sinking motion (blue).  The ambiguous region saw slight absolute vorticity advection increasing with height, but the temperature advection term indicated negative forcing.
