The Great Lakes region of the Midwest is remaining relatively quiet weather-wise as a high pressure system continues to sit over the area. Winds have shifted slightly to bring in warmer air to the region, over zero degrees.

The Southeast, on the other hand, is experiencing rather unusual weather for that area. A low pressure system moving east over the northern areas of the Gulf is creating a lot of lift over states like Georgia and South Carolina. Together with colder temperatures near the surface, the lift is causing a widespread area of precipitation that, when reaching the surface, is freezing.
