Over the last couple of days there has been a system moving through the South bringing major snow accumulations to Kansas. Wichita, Kansas had a record amount of snow for February 8, 2011. Today, as the system tracks east, expect about 5 to 6 inches of snow in SW Missouri and Northern Arkansas from significant amounts of warm air advection and positive vorticity advection. NE Texas, Central Louisiana, and Central Missippi will be getting mainly freezing rain and/or drizzle. Areas farther south will be getting rain showers.
