20 Jan Long Range

Forecast updated 2:00pm EST - 7 Jan 2011

Forecast valid for 0600 Tuesday, January 25th.

Early next week will bring warmer temperatures for the Indiana area but considerably colder temperatures for a large portion of the country. This is due to a upper level trough deepening over most of the United States and bringing cold arctic air southward with it. Here in Indiana temperatures will be just below freezing with similar temperatures possibly reaching as far south as New Mexico. PVA in New Mexico could lead to a wintery mix with ice definitely possible. Here at home positive vorticity advection and slight warm air advection will make for a good snow chance throughout the southern part of Indiana and south of the Ohio river valley into Tennessee.
