Parish Long Range IN
The image below shows a low pressure system over the border of Missouri, Kansas, Nebraska, and Iowa with a warm front connected to it extending east on Sunday March 24, 2013 at 12 UTC. At this time there is strong frontogenesis associated with the warm front. The purple lines below represent streamlines of the actual wind and they are almost perpendicular to the front, which is approximately parallel to the isotherms. With the winds being perpendicular to the isotherms, they are pushing the isotherms closer together and increasing the temperature gradient along the front, which is increasing the strength of the front. This is why precipitation is in the forecast on Sunday.
