After this weekends warm up, we look to be heading back into the cold for much of the central and eastern United States. The images above are from the GFS 12Z run from Wednesday March 27, 2013. They are showing a cold front to develop late Monday evening and move through the midwest and and east coast. Behind this front, temperatures will drop again to below freezing for highs through the area. I also included the 6 hour rain totals on the map.
The second image shows the frontogenesis associated with this front. With the magnitude, I believe some strong storms could be possible with this front. This will need to be monitored as we get closer to this event.
