This graphic focuses on the potential for severe weather in the southern plains as noted by the SPC day 3 outlook. The first graphic is the 850mb warm air advection, temperatures and heights. There are several factors that contribute to this risk. There is strong warm air advection at 850mb. Additionally, there will be good warming at the surface due to solar heating. The result of this will be high values of CAPE. Upper level divergence should also encourage rising motion.

Shown here is a sounding at 3:00pm Saturday over west-central Oklahoma. Notice the highly unstable atmosphere.
