The image below displaying the current radar is indicating precipitation in Tennessee. This precipitation could be caused by frontogenesis and warm air advection. The second image below shows the NAM's forecast for the 850 mb level, heights, temperatures, and wind today at 15 UTC. There is an axis of dilation going through Kentucky and Tennessee, which would indicate frontogenesis along the warm front position in the south eastern portion of the United States. There is also warm air advection over Tennessee at 15 UTC. Warm air advection could induce negative omega and negative omega could produce precipitation.
